STEPHEN WOOD

Stephen Wood

A quote from one of Stephen's collector's, "Stephen Wood shows an appreciation for the simple beauties in his work and life, as well as the ability to understand and unravel the complex. His work in all areas of art, including painting, pottery, as well as his writing, proves his passion as well as his desire to conquer all he does."

Stephen's areas of concentration are painting and pottery, while working in both contemporary and Native American fields. His Native American paintings have been referred to as "Indian pop art with a twist." He is also becoming known for his nudes, often done in either a classical European style, or a more abstracted aspect done from life. In pottery Stephen mainly produces hand built pieces done in the Cherokee tradition, but then changes them through form and decoration to suit his own personal vision. He also use a variety of mixed-media on the surface of the clay to achieve the desired effect.

Stephen Wood graduated from Northeastern State University with a degree in fine art in 2004. Since then he has pursued a career in fine art, having numerous one man shows and placing widely in national competitions.
