Since his teenage years Ken had an interest in working with wood, but had little chance to pursue this interst until his retirement from St. Francis.

He began with a few furniture building projects, then was introduced to woodturning, and he knew he'd found his niche.

Ken started out working on a mini-lathe, making writing instruments from exotic woods. Then he took instruction in working on a larger lathe from internationally known wood artist and teacher Ray Key of England. He now produces cases, bowls, and vessels of numerous types.

Ken is a member of the American Association of Woodturners.

Ken graduated from high school at Cleveland, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in Medical Technology.

He completed a year's internship in medical technology at Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went on to complete a major in hospital administration.

Ken served as administrator for Oklahoma hospitals in Hominy, Hollis and Collinsville. In the 1960's and 70's he was employed as Associate Director of the Oklahoma Hospital Association and director of the Oklahoma Council for Health Careers.

From 1977-1995, Ken was vice president at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

During his 42 year career in the health field, he was honored with membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives and served on the boards of several local, state, and national health related organizations.
