“Navajo jewelry artist Steve Yellowhorse is continually challenging himself to innovate. Inspired by the work of architect Frank Gehry, he is coaxing some wonderful new work out of sheet silver that he textures and manipulates.” – Mark Bahti
Lovetts Gallery is excited to bring contemporary Native American jeweler Steve Yellowhorse, and his 30 years at the bench to Oklahoma and the Midwest.
Working exclusively sterling silver and utilizing his own stamps and textured designs, Steve Yellowhorse is an innovator in the Native jewelry field and has been for over 30 years. Each piece is conceptualized and constructed by Steve alone. He collects the best natural turquoise available, as well as other materials such as dinosaur bone, dichroic glass, etc. for his designs. However, it is his signature “folded” style, as seen in the work displayed above, that Steve Yellowhorse is most known.
