I've always been captivated by Art Nouveau and Art Deco, which is where I drew my inspiration for the style of this griffin. I wanted to create an object that felt like it was transported from a time gone by, so I chose a vintage cloche because of the distinctive rings and waves inherent to hand-blown domes. The way old glass distorts objects feel like a ripply dream sequence and it really enhanced the ethereal feel of this piece. Animal skins over sculpted armature with real cultured pearl eyes. 24K gilded mid-century ormolu mirror frame affixed to custom-made black lacquer riser. Vintage hand-blown glass cloche from Poland atop a Victorian-style footed base. The sculpture and display are a single unit. The glass cloche is removable but the sculpture is permanently mounted under the dome.
