SANDRA DAWN

Sandra Dawn has been a full-time professional artist based out of Southwest Missouri since 2005. During that time, Sandra worked as a sought-after commission artist, award winning gallery artist, art instructor, and a distinguished muralist.

She began her career as a figure artist, drawing charcoal portraits at area festivals and soon began
painting murals in private homes. People began reaching out to have Sandra create more elaborate
commission pieces and to paint murals in area businesses.

In 2015 Sandra achieved a Bachelor of Fine Art on full merit scholarship from Missouri Southern State
University. She frequently displayed in gallery exhibitions, including solo art shows at artCentral in
Carthage, Missouri and The Jones Gallery in Kansas City, Missouri. After finishing college Sandra became more involved in the area arts community. She held a term as the President of the Joplin Reginal Artist Coalition and co-organized the Dr. John H. Galey Art and Music Festival.

In 2017, health complications persuaded Sandra to extend her career to the realm of teaching, where
she would partner with Spiva Center for the Arts and offer therapeutic arts classes to hundreds of area
residents. After undergoing a shoulder replacement in 2020, Sandra was able to continue making art on a larger scale. Murals quickly became her main focus and teaching became a rarity.

Since then, Sandra has created dozens of murals across a span of four states. Numerous magazines,
newspapers, and broadcasting stations have publicized information about Sandra’s art; some of these
publications can be found in the Joplin Globe, Kansas City Star, Neosho Daily News, Epoch Times, Vision Times, Howell County Tourism Guide, and Show Me the Ozarks Magazine.
