YOKO LOFTIS
Yoko Loftis is a Japanese oil painter based in Oklahoma. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from St.
Gregory’s University in 2006. Her creative journey continued with illustrating a children’s book and
teaching drawing and painting classes at local galleries. In 2013, she began painting custom pet portrait
commissions, gradually building a steady clientele. Alongside her commission work, Yoko continues to
create original paintings that reflect her personal vision. Growing up in a busy city in Japan and later
moving to the quiet countryside of Oklahoma, the contrast between the two inspired her to find a
universal language. For her, painting is a way of giving form to our shared emotions such as stillness,
hopefulness, and nostalgia. Her work uses representational techniques and playful arrangements to
explore time and memory, grounded in the tradition of oil painting.
