Artist Statement:

I tend to gravitate toward wildlife portraiture. I love to be out in nature observing and photographing animals. I want to create pieces that evoke a reverence for nature and for the viewer to feel connected to the subject. When I’m in the field watching these animals, I feel such peace and wonder for this incredible rock we live on and the diversity of life that inhabits it. My hope is to express those feelings in my work through a minimalistic approach that focuses on the silhouette, anatomy, and lighting of my subject to capture the beauty of its movement and form. I love every part of the process from the preparation of the painting surface to the tactile feel of mixing the paint. I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to practice mastering a craft that I love each day.
