Nighttime began to settle in, the fire cracking in the fireplace, sounds of crickets outside, it really was a calm start to the evening. But then the calm evening started to melt into the shadows, as a panic began to creep in from the darkness outside. This afternoon her family got word of an old grizzly on the hunt, and he had a taste for cattle. The stories of this grizzly weren’t that he was gigantic, this bear was just mean. That old bear was attacking the local farms like he was on a mission. Worry would first hang in the air, after her husband left to help on a farm just over the hill, she was left there alone with thoughts of a mean old grizzly on the hunt. After drying off the dishwater on her hands, she felt a strange quiet stillness rising as the chores were finally f inished for the night. All it took was a faint crack from outside, and then a rush of senses hit her like train. The dogs went to howling as a deep growl would roll in from beyond the barn, she knew she was in trouble.
