"For this piece I wanted to again use a very rough and gnarly texture to add character to the leopards form. No fancy pose. Just a big 'Tom' marauding through his territory with tail curled up, displaying to all around who is boss. On certain subjects, (especially those that don't have a fascinating texture of their own) I like to sculpt in an unrealistic style. As long as the proportions are on point and certain details and expressions are rendered, the brain completes the picture. It also adds another whole dimension as the texture becomes an artwork in and of itself. This texture really activates the imagination and ones eyes cannot seem to stop exploring the intricate landscape. The brain tells you that this is wrong and makes no sense but somehow it makes perfect sense on a deeper level. It holds your attention captive long after you've identified the animal you're looking at."
